August 18th 2025 Meeting Minutes

August 18, 2025

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:38  pm by Grand Knight (GK) Joe Tarallo. 

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight Joe Tarallo      .

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Chaplain report

Deacon Tony was not in attendance.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Dan Fuller, seconded by Mike Sabella                                     approved with a unanimous vote.

Grand Knight’s Report (Joe Tarallo)

GK thanked all members in attendance for being present at our scheduled meeting during the summer months as many families and individuals are on vacation.

GK stated that we had a very successful blood drive on August 9TH and that Gerard Petrocelli would elaborate on the details.

GK stated that Lenny Martin also had a successful soup kitchen at the last scheduled event.

GK stated that we have 2 new motions on the vouchers that will support 2 Seminarians that are part of the RSVP program, These are Brian Collins and Jean-Baptiste Mollet who are both in the RSVP programs.

Tom Rohe stated that he knows Brian Collins and that he is well deserving of any support we can give him.

GK stated that the Bingo program needs volunteers to commit to the 1 day per month requirement and that we need other members besides the usual individuals that attend to start showing up to help.

GK stated that we have a motion to make a donation in memory of Brother Michael Truppo.

GK stated that we have upcoming events such as the “March in Trenton” to be held in October 2025.

GK stated that Tom Rohe will discuss the “Charity Mania Tickets”, John Watral will discuss the “Soccer Challenge”, Gerard Petrocelli will discuss the “Blood Drive and the Golf Outings”.

GK Stated that Jerry Kaufhold will discuss the upcoming “Diaper Drive to be held in October on the 4TH and 5TH of the month.

GK stated that there has been issues with the e–mails reaching all members and that there is a update sheet on the back table to fill in all current information so contacts can be checked and updated accordingly.

Treasurer’s Report (Mike Uszacki.)

Treasurer report was announced by Mike Uszacki.

Membership Report (Chip Sturm)

Chip Sturm stated that he is still working on some new recruits and will continue looking for new members.                

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard Petrocelli)

Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.

Program Reports – Led by John Watral

Bingo (Chip Strum) – Chip stated that he needs help every week as there are only a few regular members that show up week after week and that he is currently having to be there from 3 PM till 11 PM. Chip stated that he is looking for additional members can meet their once per month requirement.  

Chip suggested that we add a motion to take off the last Friday from the August Bingo schedule to allow members to enjoy time off with their families and friends over the Labor Day Weekend.

Gerard stated that he has only 3 scheduled cooks for kitchen duty and that he needs more volunteers to allow each person to work 1 day per month. Currently he has himself, Mike Sabella and Joe Cottone.

Soup Kitchen (Lenny Martin) – Lenny stated that he had a very successful soup kitchen last month where they served 75 in house meals and 45 takeout meals. Lenny stated that the meals where comprised of mixed vegetables, fish, rice and beans for a neutrinos meal.

Blood Drive (Gerard Petrocelli) – Gerald stated that the August 9TH blood drive had a large turnout collecting a total of 133 products. He stated that there were 96 whole blood products, 28 Alyx products and 9 deferred products. He stated that the marketing of the blood drive contributed to the success of the drive but empathized that we need to spread the news of the blood drive by word of mouth. Gerald thanked all who work worked on the setup, worked during the collection of the products and the break down crew. However Gerald stated that he needs more volunteers on a regular basis to help. He also stated that families of 10 K of C members made contributions during this blood drive. Finally he stated that the next blood drive is scheduled for December 6th, 2025.

Golf Outings (Gerard Pertocelli) –Gerald stated that there are 3 upcoming golf outings

The Warren Worman Jr. event is currently sold out so there is no more space available.

The Donald Ryan event will be held on 9/22/25.

The Gary Halliwell event will be held on 9/12/25 and that e-mailes were just sent out for this event.

All Golf Outing Event details were listed on the flyers available on the back table during tonight’s meeting.

Wreath Drive (Gerard Petrocelli)- Gerard stated that we need volunteers to help during the upcoming wreath drive. He stated that it is a profitable drive that generated $2500 last year to support the charity “Food for Families”. He stated in addition to buying a wreath that members can make donations directly.

6100 Officer Installation (Joe Tarallo) Joe stated that we need to decide where the officer installation event will be held. He stated that it can be held after mass in the church or at the officers meeting on the 1ST Monday of the month.

Soccer Tournament (John Watral) – John sated that he is trying to schedule the soccer challenge for 9/20/25 with a rain date of 9/27/25 at Turkey Brook Park.

RTL (Gerry Kaufhold) – Gerry sated that we have a new contact in Long Valley, NJ and his name is Rich Wagner.

4th Degree (Tom Rohe) – The 4TH Degree has a meeting planned for August 8/19/25 and all are encouraged to attend. It will be in Flanders.

Pasta Dinner (Tom Rohe)- There is a Pasta Dinner scheduled for October 18TH in the parish center. Tom stated that we will need volunteers to help with setup and breakdown after the event. The event and all the proceeds will used to directly help veterans.

Squires (Tom Rohe) – Tom stated that it has been a quiet summer for the squires so far but they are still operating.

Charity Mania (Tom Rohe)-Tom stated that there are 21 Days left before the charity tickets are due back. He would like the tickets back as soon as possible due to the fact that the names and contact information needs to be input into the system and getting all tickets at the deadline will create a tremendous amount of work to be done in a very short time period. He still has a lot of tickets that can be picked up and sold so if you know anyone interested please contact him. Tom stated that this is a good charity for us and that we make a decent profit from the sales.

Mt. Olive Council 6100

August 2025

  • Greetings From Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly, and State Deputy James Sweeney
  • Congratulations and thanks to Council 6100 the newly elected officers. I look forward to working with you in this new Columbian year 2025-2026.
  • The council is presently up to date on reports to Supreme – Semi-annual Council audit due August 15th (form 1295)
  • Set a date for installation of officers
  • Congratulations to you all for achieving STAR Council in Columbian Year 2024-2025
  • Start planning your Columbian year activities now – set your programs and goals for next 90-60-30 days
  • I’ll be scheduling a meeting w/ GK, DGK and FS in the next few weeks to develop our District agenda and goals

Supreme:

  • Significant goals by Supreme- Membership goals are increased, each council should have a CUF Team and should hold regular CUFs, schedule at least 3 Holy Hours of Prayer this CY – let State know of any parish/council Holy Hours
  • Convention in Washington DC August 4-7,

State Council:

  • New Directory of State Officers, Districts and Councils are on the State website
  • Grand Knight Reference Guide is now available on State website
  • Monthly virtual meeting with Q&A (1st was tonight)
  • October and March Statewide Church Membership drives
  • Mass for Life – 1st Saturday every month at St Margaret’s Morristown 8am celebrated by Bishop Sweeney – wear your Knight’s gear to show we support
  • September NJ March for Life in Trenton

Paterson Federation:

  • Jubilee Mass July 25 at St James The Greater Church, Montague  9am Pilgrimage,  10am Mass of Hope, refreshments to follow. – Lets support Bishop Sweeney
  • July 27th World Feast Day for Grandparents
  • Sept 13 Membership and Leadership Seminar for GK
  • September 19 Federation Meeting:  Star of The Sea Parish Hopatcong , doors open at 6, Dinner at 7 meeting 7:30
  • Altar Server Appreciation Day Sept 20
