Grand Knight’s Report (Dan Fuller)

  • There will be an Elks fundraiser on March 3 at Appleby’s from 8-10pm
  • All TV’s have been installed in the parish center and are working well.  We need to take down the old bingo boards.  We will be taking a photo at 6:45 before the next business meeting for anyone who helped with the installation of the new TVs.
  • Chair repairs – will begin on Tuesdays in the near future.
  • LEDs – we have an opportunity to replace the light fixtures in the parish center with LED fixtures.  Cost is $1 per fixture.  The Church will cover permitting & disposal.  Tom Rohe will be the contractor.  We need to supply labor and will open up this request to the parish.
  • April 14 – 4th Degree Exemplification
  • April 20-21 – Fundraiser for Special Citizens
  • May 17-18 – State Convention in Wildwood
  • June 2 – Corpus Christi – There will be a procession in the parking lot after the 12:00 mass and reception after the procession at the parish center.  We will be inviting Bishop Sweeney.
  • The Lenten Season has begun.  Let us all prepare for Easter.
  • Our freezer has died and will need to be replaced.
  • June is coming, so we will need a volunteer to fill the Deputy Grand Knight role.

Treasurer’s Report (Wally Krake)

The Bank statement was sent to trustees.  A copy can be obtained upon request.

Membership Report (Chip Sturm)

There are a few prospects, including Steven Andrews who has not signed up yet, but wants to be a member.

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard Petrocelli)

Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.

Program Reports – Led by John Watral

Bingo (Chip Sturm)- On 3/15, there will be a grand re-opening & St. Patrick’s Day celebration with door prizes.

Soup Kitchen (Lenny Martin) –Last week we served 83 meals and 43 take outs.  Soup kitchen averages 85-95 meals.  People are living day-to-day and paycheck to paycheck due to rising rents, so this remains critical for the community.

Respect Life (Gerry Kaufhold) – Baby Bottle Boomerang – 130 bottles were passed out as of today. Approximately $3,000 was collected from 117 bottles.  Also, 40 Days for Life started on Wednesday with a peaceful prayer vigil at Planned Parenthood (196 Speedwell Ave., Morristown)

Blood Drive (Gerard Petrocelli) – Was held on 1/27/2024.  Many employers have fewer employees post Covid and therefore do not host blood drives at their offices like they used to. NY Blood Center estimates a loss of 30% of its donors.   Also, there has been bad weather and donors with colds/flu, so fewer donations. Consequently, there is a blood shortage currently and the need is great.  At the January drive, we had 156 registered donors that donated 167 blood products.  This was a top-5 result for us. Next drive is 4/13/2024.

Special Citizens Drive (Joe Tarallo) – will be held on April 20-21 at Tractor Supply and other locations that are TBD.

Squires(Tom Rohe) – Will host an Easter Egg Hunt on Palm Sunday, 3/24/2024.

Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession (Don Campbell) – We want to stay on Church grounds, but remain visible from the street. We are looking for participation from Squires, CCD, Confirmation candidates, etc.  There are open spots on the planning committee as follows:

  • Council Liason (Dan)
  • Publicity (Mike S) – bulletin, Beacon, pulpit announcements
  • Repast (Gerard)
  • Logisitics (Open) – Shopping for supplies, temporary altars, monstrance, etc.
  • “day of” help (Open) – Usher guidance, assist elderly, sound system, etc.

There will be a meeting at 6:30 on March 4 to discuss in more detail.

  • Current & Upcoming Events
  • Any Council that would like to participate in donating towards an Ultrasound Machine for a Crisis Pregnancy Center (CPC), can participate with other council(s) within the district, and as a district, if we can contribute 50% of the cost (~$7,000), the additional matching will allow for an Ultrasound to be installed in a needy CPC and help save an innocent life.
    • Please continue to provide spiritual and financial support to the CPCs through ASAP, our needy families and Food Pantries through the Helping Hands and Food for Families Programs, our teens through the KofC Scholarships, and to your deacon candidates, seminarians and religious novices through our RSVP program, and please acknowledge their sacrifices through letters of appreciation. For any Council that donated to ASAP, please ensure you complete the ASAP paperwork to get the $100 matching from Supreme (KofC.org/ASAP).
      • January Religious & Civil Rights (R&C) Talking Points from Dr. Dan Rossi, PSD highlights:
    • Focus is again on support for pregnancy resource centers which are under attack in New Jersey including:
      • Being accused of spreading disinformation and deceptive practices and seeking to prevent individuals from accessing abortion care. A NJ Congressman accused the CPCs as being unable to provide real medical help and have no medical personnel on staff. He stated: “We need to do everything we can to shut down these brainwashing cult clinics. We need to stop the fake programming they’re pushing.” The NJ AG accused the CPCs of violating the NJ Consumer Fraud Act and issued a subpoena for 10 years of a broad range of information.
    • Please continue to pray for the CPCs and if you can, provide financial support. Pray for a conversion of heart for our elected officials and that they stop their attempts to shut down these important sources of support for women.

State Secretary Report (Jim Sweeney) – State Secretary was not in attendance.
