Business Meeting

April 18, 2022

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:41 pm by Deputy Grand Knight (GK) Shawn Mickus.

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Deputy Grand Knight (GK) Shawn Mickus.

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Roll Call of Officers

N/A- per new format    

Chaplain report

There was no chaplain report as the chaplain was not present.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Paul P. seconded by Bob Jacobs and accepted by a unanimous vote.

Membership Report

  • Chip is absent today (per Gerard Petrocelli)- there is no report.

Grand Knight’s Report

  • We have a lot of brothers who are ill. We need to pray for them.
  • There has been some rallying around bingo. Some equipment has been purchased and a lot of brothers stepped up to get bingo back alive.

Treasurer’s Report (Wally)

The treasurer is away, but the report was sent to the trustees – a copy can be requested through the trustees.

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)

Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.

Program Report

John Watral (Squire)

  • We have 5 new members – we struggle to find a good meeting day
    • Our Easter egg hunt was good- 35 people participated.
    • Road cleanup scheduled for May 15, 2022
    • June 5, 2022- Veterans breakfast- Squires will be serving food
    • State Squire Retreat- 9 squires and families participated- it was a good retreat

Tom Rohe (Squire)

  • State Squire retreat- probably our best retreat so far. Fr. Ben was invited to speak and kept the kids attentive.
    • State Squire investiture: May 1, 2022 at 2:30 at St Kateri in Sparta
    • Tank Pull is June 12, 2022

Gerry Kaufhold

  • Diaper drive – weekend of May 20, 2022 (tentative)
    • Good Friday – right to life in front of the Plant Parenthood- Bishop Sweeney did the Rosary.

Gerard Petrocelli: 

Food for family – we participated in the refund last year- we plan on doing the same this year.

Membership cards need to be signed by GK who is not feeling well tonight.

Blood Drive: April 30, 2022 (6:30am-12:30pm)- so far, we have 90 appointments- set up will be on April 29th.

Shawn:

  • Bingo: A few weeks ago we purchased capital equipment for bingo- we are not sure when they are coming.

Bob Hall: (assembly commander)

  • As Knights, we are all servant. The color corps is the most visible corps of Knights of Columbus. We do things much more visible- confirmation this past Saturday. It is a fulfilling job- we can use some more members- Meeting on Sunday April 19, 2022
    • June 5, 2022- Breakfast from 9:00am -1:00pm- at the KOC Hall in Flanders – $15 all you can eat (4th degree) – Vets eat free. All profits benefit military programs

Unfinished Business:

The second reading of the Motion to allocate up to $650 during the Columbian year 2021-2022 for an extra blood drive, made by Gerard Petrocelli, passed by a unanimous vote.

New Business:

  1. Motion to allocate $500 for a brunch in memory of Rick Biunno, with any remaining unspent dollars donated to a charity designated by the Biunno family was made by Mike Mallon, seconded by Gerard Petrocelli and approved by a unanimous vote. 
  • Motion to donate $250 to the Celiac Disease Foundation was made by Gerard Petrocelli, seconded by Bob Jacobs and approved by a unanimous vote.

Motion suggested by Paul P. Motion to set up a donation jar to support Ukranians when bingo starts again- All proceeds will go to the Knights of Columbus – Need two officers to monitor the money collected.

Insurance Agent Report

  • No insurance report- Mike Leyden on behalf of Jim Lesa- At least 2 upcoming financial seminars are coming in May- products have changed over the years.

District Deputy Report

  • Thank you all- Tempori banner went into good use on Good Friday
  • Free throw contest- great participation- the girls, although they did not win, they competed.
  • Convention: Recent Paterson Federation meeting- Keller is the new Paterson Federation Chairman.
  • Thank you for safe environment
  • Affiliate program- 100% participation – we reduced the number of people from 310 at the beginning of the year to 140 people.
