Business Meeting

October 18, 2021

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:34 pm by Grand Knight Joe D’Anna.

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight Joe D’Anna.

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Roll Call of Officers

N/A- per new format    

Chaplain report

There was no Chaplain present for a report.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted by a unanimous vote.

Membership Report

  • Membership chairman apologized for not having been around, but has been helping a fellow knight.

Grand Knight’s Report

  • Grand knight expressed his thanks for people coming to the meeting. He acknowledged that there are more people at the meeting. He also conveyed he will be away for the next meeting in November.

Treasurer’s Report (Wally)

Financial reports are not read at the meeting. They are sent to officers and available by request.

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)

Financial secretary report is emailed to Trustees in advance for approval of expenditures

Program Report

 Gerry: Respect for Life

  • We have been doing the 40 days for life in Morristown, NJ. This is the third year we do this. A person stopped by. She was in distress. We gave some advice and contact so she could seek help. Another person stopped by the week prior and wants to participate in the activity.
    • Weekend of November 7 is Right To Life raffle. Help is needed before and after the weekend masses to sell tickets ($20 per ticket).
    • Respect for Life mass- November 20, 2021 at 10:00am at the Paterson Cathedral
    • March for Life: January 22, 2022- We will do the Rose drive as usually

Gerard:

  • Wreath drive-All money collected will be donated to Saint Jude Parish for family in need.
    • Blood drive: December 11, 2021 (7am-1:00pm). It is a scholarship drive being sponsored by Shaun Mickus’ son
    • Campaign for food donation yielded $500 from Supreme

Dan Fuller:

  • There are two (2) CUF degrees on November 22 and 24, 2021
    • There is a fourth (4th) degree on November 21, 2021
    • Pride and Pride dinner- Joe Hruby is coordinating for the council

Squire (John Watral):

  • Meeting is set up for the weekend of October 23, 2021
    • October 30th 1:00-3:00 Trunk or Treat and also food collection at the drive
    • Road cleanup in the next 3 weeks

Tom Rohe:

  • Charity Mania– We made a profit of $2,602.15
    • 4th degree report: The fourth degree group had its first annual picnic. About 40 people participated.
    • Exemplification is November 21, 2021
    • Vote: November 2,2021

Unfinished Business:

Gerry Kaufold made a motion to allocate up to $3,000 for coats for kids. Steve Sammarco seconded the motion which passed by a unanimous vote. This constitutes the 1st reading of this motion due to its value. A second reading will take place at the November 15, 2021 meeting.

New Business:

2122-8:  Dan Fuller made a motion to dedicate the proceeds of the wreath sale to families in need. Gerry Kaufold seconded the motion which passed by unanimous vote.

2122-9: Tom Rohe made a motion for the council to match the profit of the Wreath Sale Drive up to $500 to donate to families in need. Dan Fuller seconded the motion which passed by a unanimous vote.

2122-10: Lenny Martin made a motion for the council to allocate up to $500 to the Pride and Priest dinner. Chip seconded the motion which passed by a unanimous vote.

2122-11: Gerry Kaufold made a motion to allocate up to $3,000 for coats for kids. Steve Sammarco seconded the motion which passed by a unanimous vote. This constitutes the 1st reading of this motion due to its value. A second reading will take place at the November 15, 2021 meeting.

2122-12: Shaun Mickus made a motion to allocate up to $200 for the Veterans’ mass for pins for the veterans participating at the mass. Gerard Petrocelli seconded the motion which passed by a unanimous vote.

2122-13: Dan Fuller made a motion to donate $500 to the Wounded Warrior in memory of Victor Farina. Shaun Mickus seconded the motion which passed by a unanimous vote.

2122-14: Motion to allocate $11.48 for the KOC Soccer Challenge was unamimously approved by the council.

Insurance Agent Report

  • The insurance agent expressed his readiness to help the council members with the new insurance programs Knights of Columbus has.

  • No report

The Good of the Order was conducted by Tom Rohe
