Business Meeting
March 20, 2023
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:38 pm by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.
Warden’s Report
All present were in possession of a current membership card.
Opening Prayer
Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.
Pledge of Allegiance
Salute to the flag was led by the council members.
Roll Call of Officers
N/A- per new format
Chaplain report
There was no chaplain report as the chaplain was not present.
Minutes of the Previous Meeting
Last month’s minutes were approved by Paul.
This month’s minutes were approved by Jake C and seconded by Mike.
Grand Knight’s Report (Dan Fuller)
- I wish you all a wonderful Easter
- It’s not too late to participate in Lent
- I suggest you participate in the Easter Vigil
Treasurer’s Report (Wally)
The bank statement was sent to the trustees – a copy can be requested by request.
Membership Report (Chip Sturm)
- We got two new membership candidates from the retreat last week. (John and Joe)
Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)
Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.
Program Reports – Led by Dan Fuller
Pro life Gerry – Diaper drive is scheduled for May.
KoFC retreat Gerry – Father Williams was the coordinator and we had twenty people. The retreat was a success and everyone really seemed to enjoy it. I would be willing to continue the retreat on an annual basis and hold another next year.
Bingo Mike – Bingo is going well, and attendance is averaging over 100; we still need help with setup and kitchen.
Squires Tom rohe– The squires easter egg hunt is on Psalm sunday at 2:00. Bring your children and grandchildren! Squires will also be working at the fourth degree pasta dinner. The retreat has been postponed, next date TBA.
Fourth Degree Tom Rohe– Fourth degree meeting is tomorrow night at 8:00 at the Flanders KOFC hall, anyone interested is welcome to attend the meeting. April 23rd is the next 4th degree exemplification. April 22nd the fourth degree is hosting a pasta dinner from 5-9. Adults $12; kids $8 with a family max of $35.
Blood drive Gerard – The next blood drive is scheduled for April 29th
Soup Kitchen Lenny – I’ve noticed an increased number of meals being served; from 85 to around 100. The next event will be in May.
Sparta squires – the Sparta squires are putting together a concert fundraiser for the food pantry.
New business
- Donate $200 to the catholic charities lent appeal. Motion made by Gerry and seconded by Lenny – passed.
- Spend up to $2,000 for a defibrillator for the parish center. Motion made by Lenny and seconded by Paulie – first reading is passed.
- Spend up to $1,000 for CPR and EAD training. Motion made by Paulie and seconded by Gerry. – first reading is passed
Unfinished Business
- First reading of a motion to donate a total of $2,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, equally supporting the fundraising campaigns of four Mt. Olive high school students (Gabriella, Jenna, Simran, and Caroline) for $500 each. chip pierre – second reading passed
- Motion to change the building fund account to the “Community and Faith Impact Fund” sean, paul (one abstain) – second reading passed.
District Deputy Report (Bob Hull)
- Congratulations on your increase in membership
- Welcome Joe and John
Worthy state treasurer (Jim Sweeny)
- Thank you for your contribution to the Coats for Kids Drive
- I suggest doing something positive for Lent
- The convention is coming up
Good of the Order
