Business Meeting
December 18, 2023
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 pm by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.
Opening Prayer
Opening prayer was led by GK Dan Fuller
Pledge of Allegiance
Salute to the flag was led by the council members.
Chaplain report
There was no chaplain report as the chaplain was not present.
Minutes of the Previous Meeting
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Bob Jacob, seconded by Joseph Taralo and also by a unanimous vote.
Membership Report (Chip)
- There is one person on the prospect list (Steven Andrew) who has not signed up yet, but wants to be a member.
Grand Knight’s Report (Dan Fuller)
- Let’s take a minute to celebrate the accomplishments this year. Emerging from Covid, blood drive, coats for kids ($1,500 for coats)- we are open to projects (needs for shelters such as Battered women).
- TVs are up – It took a lot of work to get this done. (Dan will call bingo folks to take old bingo apparatus down)
- CCD is thrilled about the 3 TVs they have – Will need four (4) additional TVs. Church does not have money to buy the additional TVs. There will be a motion for those TVs tonight. Father is also thrilled about the TVs. However, the statement of the church not having the money was contested.
- The Christmas party was a great success- no complaint
- Next project is to fix the chairs
- Baby bottle boomerang is coming up
- One big thing that is coming is Feast of Corpus Christi- idea: procession in the parking lot after the 12:00 mass and reception after the procession at the parish center
- Lastly- thank you for everything you do- looking forward for what we do together this next year.
Treasurer’s Report (Wally)
The treasurer’s reported on the different accounts with a grand total of $403,012.50
Program Report (John Watral)
(Mike Mallon):
- We spent $858.11 for the Christmas party
- We need help with bingo this month (No bingo on Dec, 29th)
(Lenny Martin)
- Nothing to report at this meeting
(Tom Rohe)
- Tomorrow night (Dec. 19) is the fourth degree Christmas party at Flanders
- Vendor sale: Thanks to everyone who helped move the tables- vendors were pleased- the kitchen made $152.
- Last Thursday (Dec. 14) was Paragon Christmas party
- Squires are looking for new members
- Rose sale.
Gerard Petrocelli
- We need to engage the youth in the community to help us and us help them with Bingo
- Wreath sale: there was a decline in sales, but donation has paid off. Hoping the get close to $800 in profit
- Blood drive: 5 blood drives- 704 products this year- last year was 672 products.
District Deputy
- Thanks for keeping up with new membership
- Ricardo got his cuff- Steve Andrew to sign up as well
- Financial benefits seminar- 13 members participating
- Squire: Safe environment is non-compliant. I know you are having issues. It was taken care of by John
- Big push for March for life Jan. 19th trip to Washington DC.
- Jan. 26, 8:00pm: Cause for the bishop in Woodbury- looking for donation
- Sign up for Fraternal leader advisory at the District Deputy meeting
- Keep supporting food pantries, Seminarians.
- Merry Christmas
Unfinished Business:
The second reading of the motion to donate up to $1,600 to cover 1/3 of the cost of the bus transportation to the Right to Life march in Washington DC on Jan. 19, 2024, offset by proceeds from the Rose drive, made by Chip and seconded by Jake, passed with a unanimous voice vote.
New Business:
- Motion to spend $63.08 for stairs steps repair was made by Jerry Kaufhold and seconded by Chip. Motion passed with unanimous vote.
- Motion to spend up to $250 for bishop for projects was made by Jake and seconded by Tom Rohe. Motion passed with unanimous vote.
- Motion to spend up to $1,800 for 4 TVs for CCD classrooms was made by Joe Taralo and seconded by Shawn Mickus. 12 yea, 4 Nah. This is the first reading- second reading to be voted on at the meeting of Jan. 15, 2024.
- There was a motion made by Jerry and seconded by Don for up to $250 for a replenishment, but I missed the item
