- September Religious & Civil Rights (R&C) Talking Points highlights from Dr. Dan Rossi, PSD:
This month’s talking and informational points for discussion and prayer focus on the National Eucharistic Revival. We are now in the third year of the Revival and while the 10th National Eucharistic Congress was recently completed, the goals of the Revival and our commitment to them are as important as ever. The following resolution, passed at this year’s Supreme Convention in Quebec City, very effectively and succinctly explains the continuing role of the Knights in this critical initiative of our Bishops:
A number of whereas clauses point out that the Eucharist is the “source & summit of Christian life”; that many Catholics no longer believe in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist; that Mass attendance has been declining; that there exists a clear need for evangelization; that all brother Knights must continue to fully support the Eucharistic Revival; that many councils have stepped up to support our pastors in organizing Eucharistic adoration, eucharistic processions and other catechetical and liturgical events;
The Resolutions are the Knights of Columbus fully commits itself to Eucharistic renewal throughout the Universal Church by answering the Supreme Knight’s call to be Knights of the Eucharist; and that we will continue to work with our pastors and local dioceses to support eucharistic processions in the communities we serve so as to provide a special witness to the power of Christ’s Real Presence and the hope that it will inspire a new fervor in all of God’s people and an atmosphere of charity and peace in communities throughout the world.
Finally, the first New Jersey March for Life is scheduled for September 26th in Trenton. The day will start with a 9:30 Mass at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption. The March for Life will follow the Mass.
