Business Meeting

 April 17, 2023

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:33 pm by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Roll Call of Officers

N/A- per new format

Chaplain report

There was no chaplain report as the chaplain was not present.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

Minutes will be voted on next month. 

Grand Knight’s Report (Dan Fuller)

  • Please consider visiting brother Greg Buckaloo.
  • We’re going to present the cuff compass to Bill Nolin.
  • Golf outing June 19th, Wild Turkey $180, Balad Owen $200, Crystal Springs $150.
  • The tank pull is back on June 11th.
  • Federation scholarship guideline is 5/19.
  • Saint Theresea’s is collecting new or used tools to donate to habitat to humanity.
  • Rally for life is 6/24.
  • Federation Golf outing is 9/25 $125. 
  • We need more social outings, perhaps a fishing trip.
  • Informal Knights picnic upcoming TBD.
  • Knights shed cleanup will be scheduled sometime in May.
  • Elections need to be filled (looking for Outside Guard, Deputy Grand Knight, and possibly a Trustee)
  • We are looking for a communications director. 

Treasurer’s Report (Wally)

The bank statement was sent to the trustees – a copy can be requested by request.

Further the report was read out during the meeting. 

Membership Report (Chip Sturm)

  • The cuff degree went well! We initiated two new members. 

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)

Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.

Program Reports – Led by Dan Fuller

Bingo  (Mike Malon)- Bingo is going well, we could use some extra help in the kitchen.

Blood drive (Gerard) – Blood drive coming up April 29th. Need help advertising. 

Soup Kitchen (Lenny) – Next soup kitchen is scheduled for the end of May.

Council Retreat (Gerry) We had a very successful retreat and got two new members out of it. We might plan on making the retreat annually

Respect to life (Gerry) – We will raise and donate around $3,300 to three right to life charities from the baby bottle drive proceeds. 

State convention (Dan) – I’m going down to the state convention that Saturday. If anyone wants to go down with me, please let me know.

Fourth Degree (Tom) – Tomorrow night is the fourth degree meeting. 8:00 at the Flanders hall.The  23rd is the exemplification of the 4th degree (one new member). Saturday May 6th we are having a pasta dinner. $12 a head all you can eat pasta, salad, meatballs, bread; Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th will be selling tickets for the pasta dinner after mass. 

State squires (Tom) – June 11th is the annual tank pull. The boys will be pulling a tank to raise funds for veterans. We are looking for donations. Thank you for the John Attardo scholarship donation. 

2192 Squires (Tom / John) Trunk or treat on October 28th and craft vendor sale on November 11th. We helped set up the outdoor stations last month and ran our annual Easter Egg hunt on Psalm Sunday with around 43 kids. 

New business

  • Motion to donate $500 to Dasi battered women’s shelter. Motion made by Sean and seconded by Joe Tarallo – passed
  • Motion to sponsor an ad page for the 4th degree exemplification. – Withdrawn
  • Motion to spend up to $5,000 for bingo TVs and electrical requirements. Motion made by Mike and seconded by Chip – first reading passed 
  • Motion to spend up to $1,500 for the June communion breakfast. Motion made by Paul and seconded by Jake – first reading is passed. 
  • Motion to donate $500 to the KOFC Ukraine solidarity fund. Motion made by Sean and seconded by Mike Uzechi – passed 
  • Motion to donate $250 to the Celiac disease foundation. Motion made by Gerard and seconded by Jake – passed
  • Motion to donate $250 to the Parkinson’s foundation. Motion made by Gerard and seconded by Wally – passed
  • Motion to donate $250 to the Market Street Mission. Motion made by Gerard and seconded by Gerry – passed
  • Motion to contribute $25 to the District 36 KOFC AD Journal. Withdrawn
  • Motion to spend up to $125 for their own AD for the KOFC AD Journal. Motion made by Tom and seconded by Lenny. – Passed.

Unfinished Business

  • Second reading to spend up to $2,000 for a defibrillator for the parish center. Motion made by Chip and seconded by Paulie – Passed
  • Second reading to spend up to $1,000 for CPR and EAD training. Motion made by Paulie and seconded by wally jr – Passed

District Deputy Report (Bob Hull)

  • Congratulations to our new brothers. 
  • Sp7 will be coming up 6/30/23
    • This form might be replaced with a 10-70-84 in the near future.
  • We need 7 participants for the upcoming benefits webinar
  • The 4th degree exemplification is on the 23rd.
  • The state convention is on May 19-21 in Wildwood. 
  • The Rally for Life is scheduled for the 24th at 11:00 in the statehouse annex
    • since Roe v. Wade was overturned, the battle has been shifted from the federal govt to the state govt. 
  • Please keep supporting life through the ASAP program. 

Good of the Order

The Good of the Order was directed by Wally Krake.
