Business Meeting

May 16, 2022

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:31 pm by Grand Knight (GK) Joe D’Anna.

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight (GK) Joe D’Anna.

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Chaplain report

There was no chaplain report as the chaplain was not present.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Dan Fuller seconded by Chip and accepted by a unanimous vote.

Membership Report

  • Chip found the box with registration pamphlet for which he was searching.

Grand Knight’s Report

  • Thank you for your support and prayer during my biopsy which knocked me out for about a week. We have people on the prayer list, think of them.

Treasurer’s Report (Wally)

The bank statement was sent to the trustees – a copy can be requested by request.

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)

Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.

Program Report

Gerry Kaufhold (Diaper drive)

  • This coming weekend (May 22) items will be delivered to Carenet.

Gerard Petrocelli (Blood Drive)

  • We did very well – Feb. Apr. are usually slow drives. June is usually good. But this April 30th, we had 113 registered donors, 7 deferred. We collected 84 whole, 1 plasma, 21 Alynx.
    • Next drive is June 25, 2020 (6:30am-12:30pm)
    • Food for family: We will get $500 rebate

Lenny Martin (Dover soup kitchen)

  • We were able to process, cook food, and gave to staff to give at curb side. The next one will be full service.

Tom Rohe

  • Charity Mania is back – take a pack to sell.
    • April 24 – 4th degree exemplification – (5 new members)
    • Election of officers for 6100 coming up
    • D-day breakfast June 5th in Flanders- all you can eat ($12 adults, $8 kids, veterans eat for free)
    • Meeting 5/17 in Flanders

John Watral

  • Investiture in Sparta – 2 members
    • Road cleanup at Turkey Brook
    • June 5th we will serve at the veteran breakfast

New Business:

  1. Motion to allocate $250 to buy advertising material for bingo was made by Chip Sturm, seconded by Alex Rodriguez and passed by a unanimous voice vote. 
  • Motion to allocate up to $500 for Tank Pull to match the amount raised by the squire was made by Paul P., seconded by Mike Mallon, and passed by a unanimous vote.

Insurance Agent Report

  • No insurance report

District Deputy Report

  • I spent a good weekend with Tom Rohe and Jim Sweeney at the convention
  • It is unbelievable – it is already half the year
  • Speak about the Squires (3 candidates and family members). The key is one member. It is incumbent upon us to find those people
  • The quota will be 6 members next year
  • Financial seminar -Jim Casa spent time with us
  • May 26, June 3 – financial meeting
  • Ukraine: there was an emotional state deputy of Ukraine who was on the call with us- Bishop Kurt Burnet who is part of their Ukranian chapter – KOC gave $15 million to the Ukranian knights
  • Convention was amazing- Paterson is outing together a team to make the convention what it should be.
  • Looking forward to the election tonight.

Jim Sweeney

  • Mike Leyden has received the DD of the year award 3rd year in a row.
  • Jim Sweeney was reelected for another year as state treasurer
  • Hector Imenez has a stroke at the convention
  • Membership drive: Use phone and apps – don’t waste time on paper- Get recruitment going
