Business Meeting

May 11, 2021 Updated with new motion numbers

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:34 pm by Deputy Grand Knight Shaun Mickus.

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Father Antonio.

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Roll Call of Officers

N/A- per new format  

Chaplain report

A prayer by Fr Antonio. 1st reading of today’s mass – Acts of the Apostles- Share the reflection -Paul and Silas were beaten and put in jail with feet shackled to a stake. Instead of complaining they prayed to God and were freed. The more we complain the more we stay in bondage. We need to praise God no matter the circumstances.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Gerry Kaufhold, Seconded by Tom Rohe with a correction to the name of the person who delivered the webinar of April 13, 2021 (Joseph Jordan instead of Jordan) and accepted by a unanimous vote.

Membership Report

  • CUF degree at St Marks, Long Valley- Alan Lopez received his first degree.

Grand Knight’s Report

  • ‘Thank you’ note from Carenet
  • No report really, but as we are getting out of the pandemic I am looking forward to doing what we are known for.

Treasurer’s Report (Wally)

Monthly report is available to anyone who wants it- Need to make a request through the trustees.

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)

Financial Secretary report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.

Program Report

Gerry Kaufhold:

  • Got my 2nd vaccine shot
    • June is when we do baby shower, diapers, wipes and clothes drive

John Watral:

  • Meeting this coming Sunday (May 16) and cleaning of Turkey Brooks park
    • Tank Pull – raising money for the veterans
    • Squire- Election next month (June 2021)

Gerard Petrocelli

  • Blood drive: We collected 119 products in the last April 24 2021 blood drive – In April 2019 we collected 78 products- in the last 5 drives we have averaged about 145 products.
    • Next Blood drive is July 31, 2021

Tom Rohe

            Charity Mania is back on- Tickets to be ordered.

  1. Motion 2021-39: Motion to allocate up to $4000 for Blood drive for the Columbian year 2021-2022 was made by Tom Rohe and seconded by Lenny Martin and it passed by a unanimous voice vote. This contitutes the first reading. 2nd reading to be made at the next meeting of June 8, 2021.
  • Motion 2021-40: Motion to allocate $1400 for Dover Soup Kitchen for the Columbian year 2021-2022 was made by Lenny Martin and seconded by Gerrry Kaufhold. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. This contitutes the first reading. 2nd reading to be made at the next meeting of June 8, 2021.
  • Motion 2021-41: Motion to allocate $5000 for Good Shepherd school in Haiti for the Columbian year 2021-2022 was made by Gerard Petrocelli and seconded by Wally Krake. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. This contitutes the first reading. 2nd reading to be made at the next meeting of June 8, 2021.
  • Motion 2021-42: Motion to allocate $1200 for Mount Olive food pantry for the Columbian year 2021-2022 was made by Tom Rohe and seconded by John Watral. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. This contitutes the first reading. 2nd reading to be made at the next meeting of June 8, 2021.
  • Motion 2021-43: Motion to allocate $1200 for St Joseph Home of the Elderly for the Columbian year 2021-2022 was made by Tom Rohe and seconded by Gregg Buckalew. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. This contitutes the first reading. 2nd reading to be made at the next meeting of June 8, 2021.
  • Motion 2021-44: Motion to allocate $9600 for Church hall rental for Bingo for the Columbian year 2021-2022 was tabled pending further discussions.
  • Motion 2021-45: Motion to allocate $2400 for church hall donation for the Columbian year 2021-2022 was made by Gerry Kaufhold and seconded by John Watral. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. This contitutes the first reading. 2nd reading to be made at the next meeting of June 8, 2021.
  • Motion 2021-46: Motion to allocate up to $1200 for refreshment for meetings for the Columbian year 2021-2022 was made by Joe Tarallo and seconded by Tom Rohe. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. This contitutes the first reading. 2nd reading to be made at the next meeting of June 8, 2021.

  • No report from Mike Leyden. – Tom Rohe reported convention this coming weekend- Tom Rohe will attend for both Squires and the council 6100

  1. Motion numbers 2021-37 and 38 were already assigned in previous month for Parkinson foundation and squires tank pull. May should have started with 2021-39 NOT 2021-37
