October 2022 Business Meeting Minutes
October 17, 2022
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:36 pm by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.
Warden’s Report
All present were in possession of a current membership card.
Opening Prayer
Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.
Pledge of Allegiance
Salute to the flag was led by the council members.
Roll Call of Officers

Chaplain report
There was no chaplain report as the chaplain was not present.
Minutes of the Previous Meeting
The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Tom Rohe seconded by Joe D. and accepted by a unanimous vote.
Grand Knight’s Report (Dan Fuller)
- We received recognition from the Food for Families organization.
- Thanks Sean and everyone involved for the successful Disability Drive.
- Thanks Tom and John Rohe for helping out with the church lighting situation.
- We are postponing the installation of officers due to the State Retreat
- The Pride and Priest dinner is on Nov. 21st.
Treasurer’s Report (Wally)
The bank statement was sent to the trustees – a copy can be requested by request.
Membership Report (Chip Sturm)
- We are trying to get new members through reaching out after Mass.
- Mike Uzeki is one of our new members,
- Chip is working on 5 more potential members.
Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)
Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.
We have a total of 130 members in our council after moving over 175 members to the affiliate program.
Program Reports – Led by John Watral
Right to life report (Gerry)
There is a respect life mass on Nov. 19th at 10am, and Gerry is offering to drive and carpool.
40 days for life is going well; the events are held on Wednesday from 10-11am at the Morristown Planned Parenthood.
Right to Life Raffle- Tickets will be sold the first weekend in November before and after mass.
Blood Drive report (Gerard) I need to get started with the Blood Drive. We have a sponsor for December’s blood drive, so a student will receive a scholarship if we receive enough donations.
Wreath Drive (Gerard) We officially started selling in the narthex last week. Typically the first week is slow.
Bingo report (Mike Malon): Our estimates indicate that the Total Gross Revenue is around $35k since we started bingo up again. Bingo is going well, but we need to make sure we have some backup in case we need help.
Fourth degree (Tom Rohe)
The Family Picnic was canceled due to Hurricane Ian.
The 4th degree meeting will be held tomorrow night. Interested members are welcome!
November 27th is the 4th degree exemplification; we will have at least one and perhaps two members joining us.
There will be a veterans breakfast on Nov. 13th from 9AM -1PM (3 Schmit lane in Flanders); veterans eat free! proceeds go to benefit the 4th degree veterans charities and events.
Fire inspection / Parish Light project (Tom Rohe)
We had a lot of progress with the exit and fire lights project.
I have two exit lights and one emergency light left to fix.
Still need to get to the rectory and get some smoke detectors up.
We want to upgrade some of the exterior lights.
Disability drive report (Sean): Thank you all for coming out for the disability drive. We raised over $3,200 for the weekend at 3 locations including the $400 we collected at the masses.
Squires report (John Watral): WE had a meeting this month with some decent participation. There will be a Trunk or Treat on Oct 22nd, we are looking for trunks. craft vendor sale on November 19th all day 9-4PM.

New Business
- Motion to spend up to $1,000 for a Holiday Christmas Party. Made by Tom Rohe, seconded by Gerry K. Carried to a second reading.
- amend motion 2122.34 to increase the monthly church donation for Bingo to $1,200 per month for the 2022-23 Columbian year starting in November. motion made by Gerry and seconded by Chip. Motion is lost.
- amend motion 2122.34 to increase the monthly church donation for Bingo to $1,000 per month for the 2022-23 Columbian year. Motion made by Tom Rohe and seconded by Gerry. Motion carried for a second reading.
- Motion to donate up to $3,000 or 10 cases of coats for the Federation Coats for Kids Drive – Motion made by Pierre and seconded by Gerard. Motion is carried for a second reading.
- Motion to donate $1000 to the Florida State Knights of Columbus for Hurricane Relief. Motion made by Joe Diana and seconded by Chip. Motion is carried for a second reading.
- Motion to donate $250 for the confirmation class drive for Pet Food to be raised for the Mt Olive Food Pantry. Motion made by Gerard and seconded by Joe Diana. Passed
- Motion to donate up to $100 for magnets which the Rosarians will be giving to veterans at the Nov 5th Veteran’s mass. Motion made by Joe Diana and seconded by Lenny. Passed 1 abstain
- Motion to donate up to $500 towards the purchase of Thanksgiving turkeys for St. Jude needy families. Motion made by Mike Malon and seconded by Sean. – Passed
- Motion to donate $200 to the Saint Judes Stitchers. Motion made by Tom Rohe and seconded by Wally. Passed.
- Motion to donate $104.35 to round up the donation for the Intellectual Disabilities drive to $3,300. Motion made by Sean and seconded by Joe Diana. Passed
Second reading
- Motion to move the Ernest Deccio Memorial Scholarship balance from the Knight’s account to the scholarship’s own account. Made by Tom Rohe and seconded by Joe D. — PASSED unanimously.
Insurance Agent Report
- No insurance report
District Deputy Report (Bob Hull)
- Good work on all of the council’s past projects.
- 6100 is still outstanding on the safe environment training
- The Saint Joseph Icon Devotional will be from November 3rd to the 23rd.
- Don’t forget to invite a retired priest to the Pride for Priest dinner.
Good of the Order
The Good of the Order was conducted by Ron.
