Business Meeting Minutes – December 19 2022

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:41 pm by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Roll Call of Officers

N/A- per new format

Chaplain report

There was no chaplain report as the chaplain was not present.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Joe Tarallo seconded by Bob Jacobs and accepted by a unanimous vote.

Grand Knight’s Report (Dan Fuller)

  • Council is getting back to normal
  • Thank you everyone for coming (We had 21 people in attendance)
  • Merry Christmas to you all!

Treasurer’s Report (Wally)

The bank statement was sent to the trustees – a copy can be requested by request.

Membership Report (Chip Sturm)

  • I’m still working on recruiting
  • New members are Wally Krake and Mike Uzecki 

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)

Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.

Program Reports – Led by Tom Rohe

Pride and priest dinner (Jim Sweeny) – The pride and priest dinner was excellent. 

There were around 436 people in attendance – including 96 priests and 2 bishops

Mass for life (Jim Sweeny) The mass was well attended, and there were several high schools in attendance. 

Christmas party (Mike Malon) – There were around 35 people in attendance. It was an overall nice event that cost us $809.20. 

Bingo – (Mike Malon) – Bingo is doing well. Last week there were 58 people, which was a smaller crowd. We still need more bingo help! No bingo being held on December 30th.  

Wreath drive (Gerard) – Last year profit was over $1,000, but this year is over $1,200.  

Blood drive (Gerard) – Total donations – 175 products which is an incredible amount of donations. We are averaging a lot more products compared to before covid. 

Squires (Tom Rohe) – Squires are alive and well; squires participated at the fourth degree breakfast, and they are restarting the Christmas at Paragon event. Also, the Squires are set up for the rose sale starting early January, and a in person state squire meeting being held in Sparta

Fourth Degree (Tom Rohe) – Veterans breakfast gave out 18 veteran breakfasts. 

Coats for Kids (Dan Fuller / Jim Sweeny) We purchased 10 cases of coats which equate to 200 coats. 

Unfinished Business

  • Motion to change the name of the building fund to the — “community and faith impact fund”; made by Joe Tarallo, seconded by Lenny — Motion tabled to set up guidelines.
    • Will propose motion again with said guidelines 
  • Motion to donate a match up to $500 of the profits for families in need for the wreath drive; motion made by Gerard, seconded by Chip Sturm – Passed 
  • Motion to donate up to $9,000 to buy Wayne center an ultrasound machine – Mike Malon, Sean M. – Motion is carried for a second vote 
  • Motion to donate $200 to the family of Flynn brown. Motion made by Chip and seconded by Tom Rohe – Passed 

Second reading

Second reading of motion to donate $1,000 to the Florida State Knights of Columbus for Hurricane Relief. – Passed

Insurance Agent Report

  • No insurance report

District Deputy Report (Bob Hull)

  • Thank you for everything.
  • We need one more person in the council to complete the safe environment training 
  • “blessedmcgivney” is the free online membership code
  • The March for Life is scheduled for January 20th. 

Good of the Order

The Good of the Order was directed by Mike Uzechi.
