Business Meeting

September 20, 2021

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:34 pm by Grand Knight Joe D’Anna.

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight Joe D’Anna.

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Roll Call of Officers

N/A- per new format    

Chaplain report

There was no Chaplain present for a report.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Gerry Kaufhold, Seconded by Joe Hruby and accepted by a unanimous vote.

Membership Report

  • No report.

Grand Knight’s Report

  • We moved the meetings to 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month starting October 2021
  • The State Retreat will be $275 per person. The State will give $100 per person and the council will give $75 per person

Treasurer’s Report (Wally)

Financial reports are not read at the meeting. They are sent to officers and available by request.

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)

Financial secretary report is emailed to Trustees in advance for approval of expenditures

Program Report

John Watral (Squire):

  • Soccer Challenge (Oct. 2) at Turkey Brook from 9am-11:00am
    • Potential of State retreat (1/2 day retreat, 1/2 day mass)
    • We have an OK for Trunk or Treat (Oct. 30, 2021 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm). We will ask for donations at the event
    • Road cleanup on October 17, 2021- (Turkey drive) at 9:00am
    • We also have the ok for membership drive for the Squires

Tom Rohe:

  • Charity Mania– As of Sept. 20, 2021 250 Charity Mania tickets are sold. About 35 tickets are still outstanding. We might have a profit $1,880 from Charity Mania.
    • 4th degree: Sunday Oct. 3rd all officers and wives are invited to the picnic at the Knights’ Hall in Flanders- Bring a perishable food item- Need a count by September 21, 2021
    • Meeting for 4th degree at Saint Elizabeth, Flanders (Sept. 21st at 8:00pm)
    • Officer installation at the church of the Faithful Navigator on Sat. Sept 25 at the 5:30 evening mass. Light refreshment – need help with setup.
    • Exemplification Nov. 21, 2021

Gerry Kaufhold:                     

  • Respect for Life-  Jan. 21, 2022, trip to Washington.
    • October is respect for life month- Rachel Rosary Oct. 18, 2021.
    • Spiritual adoption program is kicking off this weekend (9/26)- fill form out and pray for a baby for 9 months.

Lenny Martin:

  • Faith Kitchen: We are not open yet.

Gerard Petrocelli:

  • Blood Drive Sat. 9/26 from 7:00am to 1:00pm
    • Wreath Drive starts

Unfinished Business:

  • None

New Business:

Gerry Kaufhold madea motion to donate $100 to support the Squire Trunk or Treat which will benefit the food pantry. Shaun Mickus seconded the motion and it passed by a unanimous voice vote.

Gerry Kaufhold made a motion to allocate $75 per person for the Stare Retreat for up to 15 people. Lenny Martin seconded the motion and it passed by a unanimous voice vote. This is considered the first reading of this motion. A second reading will be presented at the October 18, 2021 meeting.

Tom Rohe made a motion to allocate up to $500 for Thanksgiving turkeys. Gerry Kaufhold seconded the motion and it passed by a unanimous voice vote.

Shaun Mickus made a motion to donate $500 for the Glioblastoma Research Organization in memory of Debbie Krake. Gregg Buckalew seconded the motion and it passed by a unanimous voice vote.

Tom Rohe made a motion for Gerry Kaufhold to step down as Trustee to become Warden and Gregg Buckalew will complete Gerry’s term as trustee. Shaun Mickus seconded the motion and it passed by a unanimous voice vote.

Insurance Agent Report

  • No report

District Deputy Report (Jim Sweeney)

  • There is a request for each council to send a delegate to the Federation meeting on Friday Nov. 19, 2021.
  • Coat drive: Supreme will match the number of coats donated by the council. We need to have the coats allocated.
  • Inactive members will become affiliates in a program by council- Jim Sweeney pushed for this.
