January 2023 Meeting Minutes

January 23, 2023

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:31 pm by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Roll Call of Officers

N/A- per new format

Chaplain report

There was no chaplain report as the chaplain was not present.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Pierre seconded by Paulie and accepted by a unanimous vote.

Grand Knight’s Report (Dan Fuller)

  • Need help 15 mins before meeting setting up room
  • Two new members
    • Wally’s son (Wally) 
    • Mike Uzecki
  • Hackettstown “CareNet” experienced a pipe break, and they will need to relocate to a new facility.
  • Bingo and the Blood Drives are going well, but we need a social event; please let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas.
    • Still need Bingo help!
    • Also, we need help digitizing our council records. 
  • Bishop night, this friday night. 

Treasurer’s Report (Wally)

The bank statement was sent to the trustees – a copy can be requested by request.

Membership Report (Chip Sturm)

  • There are no pending membership applications. 

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)

Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.

Program Reports – Led by John Watral

Bingo – (Mike Malon) – Bingo is doing well. Although, we still need more help! Bingo started 15 minutes late due to lack of register staff.   

Blood drive (Gerard) – The December 17th blood drive was the second best blood drive ever. We totaled ~175 products. Thank you to all the advertisers and volunteers! Next Blood Drive February 18th.

Exit Lights & Smoke Detectors (Tom Rohe) – all of the work for the exit lights and smoke detector work has been completed; we are just waiting for the town to come back and inspect them again. 

Paragon Christmas Party (Tom Rohe) – Thank you everyone for showing up! We had a bunch of squires and confirmation kids, and it was an incredibly fun event! The Paragon residents loved the event! 

Squires (John Watral) – We got together for the right to life roses, and we collected around $600. 

Fourth Degree (Tom Rohe) – The fourth degree is alive and well! There was a wonderful Christmas party, which was well attended.  

Soup Kitchen (Lenny) – Scheduled soup kitchen next week, which I’ll report on next month

Right to life bus trip (Gerry) – Three knights from our council, (Jim Sweeny, Dan, and Gerry) and 35 people total on the bus. Gerry estimates about 100,000 people came out to the march. Overall, it was a great experience. 

The Baby Bottle Project (Gerry) – The project is ready to go! We will be passing out bottles this weekend! 

Knights Retreat (Gerry) – There is going to be a Knight’s retreat on March 18th – From 9:00AM to 1:00PM – Need help setting up the facilities and the breakfast

  • Motion to spend up to $500 to improve parish lighting outside of the parish center. – Tom Rohe, Pierre – passed 
  • Motion to spend $400 for bingo volunteer incentives. -Lenny, Jake – passed
  • Motion to donate $300 to the stitchers for yarn for the Columbian year. – Jake, Lenny – Passed
  • Motion to donate $250 for the bishops knight federation meeting – gerry, jake – passed
  • Motion to donate $500 to the Joe Barish Memorial Fund. – gerard, john – passed

Second reading

  • Motion to donate up to $9,000 to buy Wayne center an ultrasound machine – gerry chip – motion is passed

Insurance Agent Report (Jim Misa) 

  • I’ve been a knight for 20 years and an agent for 10 years. 
  • Please let me know if you’d like to schedule a meeting

District Deputy Report (Bob Hull)

  • Happy New Year!
  • I would suggest scheduling a meeting, or attending a seminar, with our insurance agent Jim Misa.
  • We must comply with the safe environment training by April 1st. 
  • There is a state convention on May 19-21 in Wildwood.
  • Try to take out an ad journal for the 23rd exemplification. 
  • The march for life this year had a great showing with a good turnout.  

Good of the Order

The Good of the Order was directed by Gerard Petrocelli.

Closing prayer was led by Dan Fuller.
