 May 15, 2023

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 pm by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Roll Call of Officers

N/A- per new format

Chaplain report

There was no chaplain report as the chaplain was not present.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

Motion to approve March meeting minutes made by Bob Jacobs and seconded by Lenny

Motion to approve April meeting minutes made by Joe Tarallo and seconded by Wally the III.

Grand Knight’s Report (Dan Fuller)

  • Just some updates
    • We had a really successful blood drive
    • We had a shed cleanout 
    • We replaced five fixtures of lights in the parish
  • Future plans
    • We are looking for service projects this summer
    • Tom Rohe is planning a fishing trip
    • We plan to have a Christmas party 

Treasurer’s Report (Wally)

The bank statement was sent to the trustees – a copy can be requested by request.

Further the report was read out during the meeting. 

Membership Report (Chip Sturm)

  • The cuff degree went well! We initiated two new members. 

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)

Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.

Program Reports – Led by John Watral

Bingo  (Mike Malon)- Bingo is going well, some of our customers can be a bit difficult, but everything worked out. We could use help as always, but we are getting by. 

Blood Drive Gerard – The blood drives are going incredibly well! We collected 164 pints for the last drive;; 106 whole blood 29 alyx (counts as two). If you can’t give; spread the word! Thank you everyone!  Next blood drive is in June!

Diaper drive (Gerry) – This weekend is the diaper drive (May 21st and 22nd) 

Golf outing (Dan Fuller) – The council is looking to sponsor four golfers to the Catholics Charities Wiegand farms golf outing on June 19th (honoring Jim sweeny at the dinner) 

Pasta dinner (John Watral) The pasta dinner was a big success and Tom Rohe expresses his thanks.

Tank Pull (John Watral) The Tank Pull is coming up on June 11th; we are looking for donations for the wounded veterans. 

Charity Mania (Gerry) – We are doing charity mania again; please buy tickets.

New business

  • Motion to spend $250 to sponsor a half page ad in the ad journal for Jim Sweeney (Wiegand farms classic). Motion made by Gerry and seconded by Bob Jacobs. – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to spend $500 to sponsor four people to attend the Wiegand farms golf outing. Motion made by Lenny and seconded by Chip. – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to spend $500 to buy and donate reusable bags to the Mount Olive and Paterson food drives. Motion made by Pierre and seconded by Gerry. – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to donate $500 to Amyloidosis Research Consortium motion made by Gerard and seconded by Lenny – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to allocate up to $5,000 for blood drives for the 2023-2024 Columbian year Motion made by sean and seconded by wally – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to spend up to $5,000 for Lasserres Own Hands. Motion made by Joe tarallo and seconded by gerard – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to spend up to $1,500 for the faith kitchen. Motion made by Lenny and seconded by sean. – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to donate $1,200 to the Mount Olive food kitchen for the 2023-2024 Columbian year. Motion made by Gerard and seconded by Lenny. – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to donate $1,200 to the St Joseph’s home for the elderly Motion made by sean and seconded by Jack Abott – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to spend $12,000 for the monthly parish center payments @$1,000 per month. Motion made by Gerry and seconded by Jim Sweeney – Passed, 1 opposed
  • Motion to spend $2,400 for the monthly meetings. Motion made by Joe tarallo and seconded by Joe Ruby – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to spend $300 a month to support PJ Farrugia in his FOCUS program for the 2023-2024 – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to donate $500 to the NJ KOFC State Squires annual Tank Pull. Motion made by Joe Tarallo and seconded by Mike Malon  – Passed unanimously

  • Motion to donate $250 to american legion riders association for the 22 day foundation. Motion made by Bob jacobs and seconded by Chip. – Passed unanimously
  • Motion to spend up to $200 for electrical repairs for the St Judes parish. Motion made by Gerry and seconded by Mike Uzechi. – Passed unanimously

Unfinished Business

  • Motion to spend up to $5,000 for bingo TVs and electrical requirements. Motion made by Wally and seconded by Pierre. – Passed unanimously
  • Amended motion to spend up to $1,500 for the communion breakfast. Motion made by Joe Tarallo and seconded by Joe Ruby. – Passed unanimously

State treasurer (Jim sweeney)

  • Thank you for supporting the Wiegand golf outings.
  • I will likely be moving up to state secretary in the near future.  
  • It is humbling to belong to a council that is this strong and that there are this many people in attendance, so thank you for your participation, attendance and work.

District Deputy Report (Bob Hull)

  • Please consider putting your SP-7 together (due at the end of next month)
  • Your form 990 is due (tax filing) 
  • I look forward to seeing many of you at the state convention.
  • On May 25th there will be a fraternal leader webinar.
  • Please keep praying the rosary.
  • There is a tool drive going on at the restore store in Denville.  
  • The Rally for Life is on june 24th at 11:00 at the statehouse annex.

Good of the Order

The Good of the Order was directed by Jack Abott.
