Meeting Minutes – Sept 19, 2022

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:36 pm by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.

Warden’s Report

All present were in possession of a current membership card.

Opening Prayer

Opening prayer was led by Grand Knight (GK) Dan Fuller.

Pledge of Allegiance

Salute to the flag was led by the council members.

Roll Call of Officers

N/A- per new format

Chaplain report

There was no chaplain report as the chaplain was not present.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted on a motion by Paulie seconded by Joe D. and accepted by a unanimous vote.

Grand Knight’s Report (Dan Fuller)

  • Thank you for all the help with Deacon Sanker’s wake.
  • Our council isn’t compliant with the child safety programming.
  • There will be a Pride and Priest dinner on Nov. 21st.
  • The Eucharistic congress is on Saturday Sept 24th 10am-2pm (need to register ahead of time)
  • There will be an officers installation on Oct. 23th.
  • We lost our Columbian 1099 tax compliance. 
    • We are getting ahead of this. Dan has been in contact with an accountant.
  • We are still looking for help with Bingo.
  • Looking for communications director (contact Dan)
  • Need help digitizing our records (contact Dan) 

Treasurer’s Report (Wally)

The bank statement was sent to the trustees – a copy can be requested by request.

Membership Report (Chip Sturm)

  • Membership drive went well.
    • We got around 8-9 interested people
    • Mike U signed up for the Knights

Financial Secretary’s Report (Gerard)

Financial secretary’s report is emailed in advance to Trustees for approval of expenditures.

Program Reports – Led by John Watral

Right to life report (Gerry) 

Forty Days for Life – Last weds in Sept we are starting up forty days for life at the Morristown planned parenthood. This event really makes a difference. 80% reduction in Planned Parenthood appointments according to Gerry’s contact. 

There will be a respect for life mass on Nov. 19th at 10:00 AM 

Soup Kitchen report (Lenny) – 

The Soup Kitchen volunteering is going well! 

Thank you for the support; the patrons especially like fish! 

We will have a soup kitchen event every 5th Tuesday of the month. 

Blood Drive report (Gerard) The last blood drive went well. There were a total of 102 products donated. We had 107 registered donors, but there were a large number of deferrals. (There were 23 deferrals, and normally they range between 8-10). Next blood drive is scheduled for December 17th.

Wreath Drive (Gerard) Wreath drive will get kicked off next week. 

Bingo report (Mike Malon): Bingo is going well and we are making good deposits. Bingo could still use more help in the kitchen when Gerard or Paul aren’t available. The patrons are happy and we’ve gotten a good amount of people. 

“Charity Mania” report (Tom Rohe)

  • Charity Mania went pretty well!
    • Our council sold 267 tickets
    • 136 were subject to commissions
    • Our total profit was $2816.81

Fourth degree  (Tom Rohe) 

Instillation of officers this saturday Oct. 24th 

There will be a family picnic on October 1st at 1PM at the Flanders hall (behind the firehouse). RSVP is needed!

There will be a veterans breakfast on Nov. 13th from 9AM -1PM

Fire inspection (Tom Rohe)
The church failed a fire inspection

There are around 20 exit / emergency lights we need to change

Tom Rohe & John Rohe will do all the labor for free

Tom & John have put in an estimated 20 man hours

Disability drive report (Sean): Disability Drive dates are Oct 8th and 9th as of now, and we are looking for volunteers. Information on the website and a sign up link is going around. There are 3 local businesses and all the local masses. Need to fill 56 spots. 

Squires report (John Watral): There will be a Trunk or Treat on Oct 22nd, we are looking for trunks.  We are postponing the rafting trip 

Unfinished Business

NEW BUSINESS

  • Motion to move the Ernest Deccio Memorial Scholarship balance from the Knight’s account to the scholarship’s own account.  Made by Tom Rohe  and seconded by Joe D. — PASSED unanimously. 
  • Motion to donate $150 to the Good guy classic golf outing. Made by Chip Sturm and seconded by John Watral — PASSED unanimously 
  • Motion to donate $200 to the Tunnel to Towers 5k run. Motion made by Wally and seconded by Jake — PASSED unanimously 

SECOND READING

  • Motion to subsidize up to $75 for 10 Council 6100 members for the annual state retreat. – Made by Chip Sturm, and seconded by Gerry Kaulfold — Passed, but one abstained. 

Insurance Agent Report

  • No insurance report

District Deputy Report (Bob Hull)

  • Council 6100 needs to complete their safe environment training.
  • There is an officer installation scheduled for Oct 23rd.
  • The Paterson federation raffle tickets coming out in Oct.
  • There will be a golf outing in Lafayette (contact Joe Miller)
  • Pride & Priest dinner – please invite retired priests from your parish (Nov. 21st)
  • We are looking for 2000 coats and 8600 toys in a donation drive.

Good of the Order

The Good of the Order was conducted by Ron.
